Review:Great book, although I found a rather major flaw in one of early chapters -- the Minangkabau is an Asian tribe, not an African one.
Referring to this snippet from the book:
'This alternative explanation is borne out by their later experiment with an African tribe, the Minangkabau of West Sumatra. These volunteers had less understanding of Western emotions and did not show the same physical changes as Western test subjects; they also reported feeling the expected emotion much less frequentl... Review:I especially liked the chapter on "Farming your Body." I have always had digestive issues and understandably so, no doctor has ever told me to listen to my body. They have always told me to eat based off the food pyramid, which is not the most effective resort for someone like me. Not listening to my body is probably my biggest downfall. I don't trust the medical system in our country and I believe our doctors have failed us all, including my mother who died of cancer when I was 17. I trust book... Read more

Review:In Trick or Treatment: The Undeniable Facts About Alternative Medicine, Simon Singh and Edzard Ernst, M.D., set out to analyze the scientific literature on acupuncture, homeopathy, chiropractic, herbal medicine, and a host of other modalities of so-called alternative and complementary medicine. The book begins with a long, fascinating chapter about the history of medicine and the emergence of the modern, evidence-based approach to medicine--i.e., conventional, Western, or allopathic medicine. Review:As fellow medical personnel, this book was an awesome insight into the life of an ER physician. Great stories about patients and this physician's personal experience for each. Well written, and overall great read. Read more

"The extraordinary way in which the disordered human brain spins its tale of woe reveals how the organ works, how it creates the primal human experience of illness.
Over the years I have been privileged to listen to countless such narratives, to translate them not just into syndromes [like multiple sclerosis] but into rarer categorizations of a patient's plight (confused mind, difficult family, impossible case, threatening crisis, irreconcilable opinion, slow death, tale of h... Review:A highly enjoyable read!!! Avi Domoshevizki uses his apparently vast knowledge of the venture capital world and weaves a very believable reality that pulls the reader in and mesmerizes him until the very last page. I cannot wait for his next book! Read more
Review:I have been following Max for sometime on social media and have been following his advice. Now I have his book and can read more in depth about the research he has collected and put together. The book is not overwhelming to read like some I have read. There are a few recipes at the end that I have already tried and found very tasty. Read more
Review:Our company is rabidly enjoying coherence and flow state business coaching, and this is one of the books we read together. I read the hardcopy and listened to the audio book. Since then, I've also purchased two copies for friends and recommended it to others. Challenge your notions of what makes you tick and why you're on this planet. What will you do with your life? How will you do it, and what is the impact on those around you? This book has encouraged me to push my limits -and relish it- in... Read more
Review:My wonderful caring school principal recommended this book to the staff as we have a population that is rather heavily burdened with poverty and other stresses. The book details the lives of several children, their histories and what Dr. Perry did to treat each child. What is incredible is the effect of poverty, neglect and abuse on the brain development. You need to read this if you work with children or parent them.... Read more
