My Daily Bread
My Daily Bread

Review:Commonly perjorative and accusatory toward the reader, speaking as God in the 1st person. He often lists how bad the reader is and in sore need of repentance. While that is likely true, Is that really how God would speak to his beloved child who is coming to his Father for daily advice, or in my case as a glorified bedtime story? I doubt it. I think He would speak to uplift and strengthen, express joy and love, not beat down into further submission. Read more

No More Faking Fine: Ending the Pretending
No More Faking Fine: Ending the Pretending

Review:Everyone in this life has been wounded. Christians have not been taught how to deal with their pain. This is an excellent book which destroys the myth that we can go from problem to hallelujah in an instant. Read more

Preparing To Be a Help Meet
Preparing To Be a Help Meet

Review:This book explores many interesting ideas and thoughts about the preparation that needs to happen before you get married. It provided lots of great ideas about what is beneficial to a relationship and what is destructive. I would recommend this book to women in relationships that are just beginning from that which is more serious and contemplating marriage. Read more

Encouraging Truth Your Heart Needs to Hear - Especially on the Hard Days
Encouraging Truth Your Heart Needs to Hear - Especially on the Hard Days

Review:Reading Holley Gerth’s You’re Going to Be Okay: Encouraging Truth Your Heart Needs to Hear, Especially on the Hard Days felt like a really powerful Biblically-based counseling session. Indeed, Holley is a licensed counselor and her experience working with women in difficult times is apparent. She also struggled with infertility for seven years.

Questions for reflection and white space to record your responses are scattered throughout the book. I didn’t take advantage of those journaling p... Read more

Embrace Your Identity and Purpose in an Age of Confusion and Comparison
Embrace Your Identity and Purpose in an Age of Confusion and Comparison

Review:I purchased the paperback version of this book and had a hard time staying engaged. I decided to then get then get the Audible version in hopes that hearing the author's voice would help. I found the author to be extremely monotone and unenthusiastic on Audible. I expected this book to talk about competition and comparison amongst our peers, other women, and maybe professionally. It touched on that but seemed to focus on women preachers and rivals against Christianity as a whole. It's just not w... Read more

How to Carry Your Cross Like a Hero - Girls with Swords
How to Carry Your Cross Like a Hero - Girls with Swords

Review:People may misunderstand this title if they are unfamiliar with the Bible. It is not about physical warfare, but spiritual. This book helps us defeat the enemy of our soul though encouragement and practical understanding of how to live in love and defeat the negative in our lives. We struggle not against flesh and blood, but against powers and principalities and rulers of darkness in heavenly places. If you don't know Jesus, this will make no sense to you. Read more

Velvet Elvis: Repainting the Christian Faith
Velvet Elvis: Repainting the Christian Faith

Review:This is a thought-provoking book that I could not put down.
I completed the entire book during a long flight, when I had expected to be sleeping. I continue to look back at various chapters. It is a wonderful book for someone who wants to think. It is not for someone who wants to be purely entertained. For those on your gift list who enjoy expanding their mind, this is an excellent gift. I will be buying many more for gifts and to hand out to friends. Read more

Lessons Learned about Self-Healing from a Surgeon's Experience with Exceptional Patients

Review:This book got me through a total hysterectomy and years later bought it for my friend's cancer. I am not religious and this book does not profess to be as such. It is simply very true what Dr. Siegel says because as a pharmacist I have seen many patients whose positive attitude makes them survivors instead of victims. Thanks Dr. Bernie ! Read more
