Review:This book is ok. I've had it for a while and still haven't finished it.
I found it bit "medical" and speaks more than I thought necessary about the brain functions such as the hippocampus, amygdala, etc. Read more
Review:This book may be pretty good but it was not exactly what I thought it would be. It is more about anorexia and bullemia than overeating. I really haven't gotten into it enough to give it a great review, so I was a bit disappointed. Read more
Review:I picked up this book at a used book sale hoping it would provide some new insights into my codependent family. I somehow missed the fact that it was going to point everything back to the authors' religious beliefs. There was a lot of great information in the first half or so of the book, but the closer I got to the end of it, the more they harped on using Christian beliefs as a tool in the recovery process. For those who are Christians, I'm sure this is a very helpful approach... but I had a pr... Read more
Review:A deeply personal and professionally enlightening account of survival and liberation. A book anybody troubled with sorrow and/or anger, an overly critical and negative self image can learn from. It’s honest and compelling with a lot to teach us all how to be better human beings. Read more

Review:I have to admit I have not completed the book but almost -I liked the clear, friendly language - and the ability to categorize the different types of emotional abuse, and in many cases, what is behind it. Read more
Review:Disappointed, like the others. Not as bad as "If you Were Here", but the recycled content really was irritating. I hope she's not past her prime, I continue to enjoy her blog, and re-read the first few books and still find them funny. Come back to us, Jen!!! Read more
Review:I have to strongly disagree with the editorial and reader reviews on this essay, even though it was a national bestseller. The book is touted as possibly the most rational description of a descent into morbid, clinical depression and suicidal despair. I didn't find it so. Styron was descriptive but rather than probing and baring the depths of his mind and emotions during his depression, I felt he only hinted at the tip of the iceberg. I didn't find any riveting, palpable tracing of his depressio... Read more
Review:This book has given a metaphorical weight set to my brain. I had been slogging along like a zombie not realizing my life could be so much better with just a few conscious mental tweaks and improvements. Thank you to everyone involved in getting this book written and published. My life and mood are so much better now that I've put these methods into practice. Read more
