Love the recipes in this book! Have not found even a mediocre one yet and I've tried quite a few. So tasty, easy to prepare, but still adventurous! I also appreciate that the author lists specific wine pairings for each meal.

Absolutely incredible book.
I didn't believe in myself when it came to cooking and the best I could make would be a pile of spaghetti, MAYBE.
Now, I feel like a gourmet chef! I have promised myself I will cook this entire book. I can now make a killer red curry & delicious cauliflower risotto. I'm almost positive my boyfriend loves me a lot better now because I want to cook dinner every single night. Carla Snyder makes every instruction incredibly easy to understand and can make the simplest of ingredients taste like a gourmet meal. A lot of the recipes just use stuff that you would have in your fridge, like chicken breast, basil, cheese, etc. There's soooooo much variety, from so many different countries. What a beautiful book, it has really changed my life in the kitchen.

I absolutely love this cookbook! I've tried about 10 recipes so far and all but one have been not just good, but great. Usually cookbooks have just a couple of go-to recipes but that's it. Each recipe is plenty of food for 2 people and we always have a little left over.

Interesting-looking recipes, mostly used around here as inspiration rather than as instructions. Perhaps it's just cooking style, but a lot of the recipes seem to call for a trip to the store, or to multiple stores. If you are accustomed to stopping at the store on the way home and buying pre-prepped ingredients, this could be the find of a lifetime.

IMPORTANT NOTE! Though I rather like the content, I am even more convinced that ebook is not the format of choice for a cookbook, and my elderly Kindle is particularly unsuited. A larger, hi-res color screen, e.g., iPad with Retina display, might be a different story.

This is a really nice book with tasty-sounding recipes and good-looking pictures. It feels current and on trend with what's going on in the food world. And it's practical! These are recipes that a person will actually make. I gave it as a gift, so I didn't make anything from it, but the person I gave it to seems to like it. Ordering cookbooks without being able to flip through them is scary for me, but the reviews were correct and I'm very happy with my purchase. Good price, too.

I haven't actually tried any of the fabulous sounding recipes yet, however, bought the correct size pan that can go in the oven. The recipes sound wonderful. Just love looking through and reading this great cookbook.

Overall the recipes that I have tried have been good. However, most of the recipes call for more salt than my taste (so I've been omitting much of it). Also, the portion sizes are much larger than for 2 people. 5-6 chicken thighs for 2 people?

Having said that, I am happy with my purchase, it's just not exactly recipes for 2.

Sure, the recipies are made for two people but it's not a book that's functional for two people. A lot of the ingredients are hard to find. You'll use a little bit and have to throw out the rest. Also most of the dishes have beef/pork which isn't a bad thing off the bad except for the fact that even most of the recipes in the poultry section call for some sort of red meat. All in all, I could see this book making some people happy but I'm not satisfied with it at all.

This is my new favorite cookbook. I've cooked half a dozen recipes so far and skimmed the rest to make sure my initial impressions are accurate. First off, the meals themselves are tasty and pleasing to the eye. Second, the ingredients are easy to shop for. The items and their specified sizes are easy to find at the local grocery store, and I find that it takes me 20 minutes to buy the half dozen items that I don't already have on hand. Third, the recipes are incredibly well-written. The stated prep and cook times are accurate, the instructions are detailed, and there are sidebars that explain, e.g., how to clean leeks or any other recipe-specific tasks that you need to perform. Fourth, every recipe includes a wine recommendation and a salad recommendation, which I find incredibly helpful for assembling the meal. Fifth, every recipe is designed to be prepared with a minimum of cleanup, with a 12" skillet being the primary cooking utensil of choice. If you cook for two, or plan too, then I don't think you can go wrong with this cookbook.

Not really crazy about the recipes in this book and I find the recipes very 'wordy'. It is hard to juggle this book and turn pages, reading line after line of instructions and not miss something along the way.
Ingredients were not very commonplace so this does not help me for dinner on a weeknight as it isn't likely I'll have the right things on my shelf. It is not the first book I'll pull off my shelf to help me.
Perhaps I will use some of the recipes when I have a special dinner and can plan ahead since I don't commonly have Arctic Char or pickled ginger in the house. Other recipes do incorporate familiar ingredients so it is not completely without merit but just is not our taste at all.

Even though I have not made anything in this book yet, it is well organized and easy to find recipes. There are some ingredients that you would have to buy new just to use for a dish. However, it is great for date nights in.

I was excited when I first got this cookbook; there were so many delicious looking recipes! But actually cooking them was frustrating. A lot of the timing in the book seems off; I routinely need to keep things cooking for much longer/shorter than suggested and measurements seem wonky at times. It's okay, not a book I turn to often.
