Really great insight about her family life and Kyle's military life. Great insight on PTSD and how it can affect your family. Great read for those who might know what the armed forces actually go through in their many possible tours of duty and how each men and women respect each other as brothers.

This was a fascinating look inside Taya Kyle's marriage to Chris Kyle and I applaud Taya for telling the story of her relationship with Chris - warts and all. It is also a searing insight into loss and grief and Taya's emotional desolation is haunting and is something that will probably stay with me for the rest of my life. I think Taya's loss is all the more poignant because she lost Chris after he left the teams - having feared he would never come back to her for so many years. To have had to try and cope with her loss and then have issues to sort out with his business partnership and the defamation case was more than any one person should ever have to handle in a lifetime. She has come through it and I take my hat off to her and wish her all the very best for the future.

I read American Sniper and enjoyed it. As a women I enjoyed this book even more for the rare glimpse into this wonderful family's life, and not just for the fabulous parts but, warts and all. Taya is a symbol of strength, grace, and resilience even in the face of so much turmoil and tragedy. Inspiring.

As a Military Pilot who flew Combat in Afghanistan, I really could relate to what my wife and I went through when I came home and Taya does a WONDERFUL job telling it all, not just the good but even the not so good!

This book is a very poignant account of Taya Kyle's life with her husband Chris Kyle (American Sniper). The book very carefully covers some of the challenges of military families and accounts for the high rate of divorce among special operations members. There are well described situations from the time of their first meeting to the lingering moments hours before Chris Kyle was murdered. Very well written from the view and experiences of a military wife and mother, the book describes the concern and fear of loss for her loved one when deployed in combat conditions and the nurturing process to help address PTSD of her husband. The book is a description of a multitude of experiences and emotions and seems to be very candidly presented. One can only wish the best for Taya Kyle as she goes on with her life and tries her best to raise her children after her soul mate was stolen by a murderer. She is tough and she will prevail. One can only hope the legal system will also support her as she has appealed a previous court decision that awarded Jessie Ventura millions from Chris Kyle's American Sniper book sales. One can additionally hope that Ventura will suffer from suing a widow and single mom. A good read and is well worth the time to absorb.

This is a beautiful account of a woman struggling to live after the love of her life is horrifically killed. She openly speaks of her grief, trials and (survivor's?) guilt. Tears flowed while reading it, so be prepared with a box of tissues close by.

I had watched American Sniper on Saturday evening ... Knowing Chris was killed after coming home and I wondered how his wife and children were coping.

I found Taya's book in kindle store and sat down to read and literally couldn't put it down. I have also experienced deep and overwhelming loss personally. I believe Taya brilliantly shared the ups and downs, the swirls and moment by moment sea changes that threaten to inhale you and toss you into the dark abyss.

I really appreciated how she shared her own personal battle with smoking. When we are faced with tremendous loss it is easy to turn to things which may not be the healthiest for our bodies. What I appreciated was she was honest with her battle and did not let societies view on smoking silence her.

Loss whether real or ambiguous never removes the love you have for your lost loved ones. Somehow we keep breathing and putting one foot in front of the other ... one day at a time ... moment by moment.

Read: Laugh. Cry. Rejoice. Learn about two public people whose presence was cut short by a mad man, ruined in war.
I became angry. I wept more. I wanted to make a cake and have coffee w Taya, and share thoughts as a Blue Star Mom watching PTS in her soldier and as a Christian wife (married to a former Army NCO), and I deal with control issues also!

This beautiful normal (exists, really?), in professional couple seen in Taya's writing. The simple happy man/woman struggling day to day...to live, love, communicate, make life count ... just trying to make babies and raise them right in a FAST paced world...until ... a war-damaged human changes the course of all that. so she is a single parent and without the only love of her life.

Taya is a truly kind, loving person, and how she trusts anyone, is a gift from God, and proof of Jesus' indwelling. Excellence in human living put on paper, is how I describe this tremendously open, personal book. Humility. Pure honesty. I do pray to have the Taya heart and character. It is costly to develop, however.

The parts of the book where the author shared how she was dealing with grief were insightful, honest and wise. I appreciated her transparency. Other parts of the book seemed to be too long, sometimes repetitive. I recommend reading it but some can be skimmed.

Not knowing the effect her unforgettable story might have, Taya Kyle has given us a guide for living a more purposeful and other-centered life. By her own example, she has reintroduced into our national consciousness values for achieving a higher moral standing. These values are: honesty, humility, vulnerability, gratefulness, and faithfulness to a cause greater than oneself.

As a result of her struggle to survive overwhelming loss, she has put forth a clarion call to each one of us; that is, to cherish the life and the freedom we’ve been blessed with. Most important of all, her book appeals to us to never forget the brave men and women whom, by their selfless sacrifices, and the support of their families, have made these blessings possible and enduring.

If I may quote from her book, “God promises beauty through ashes.”

To strive for wisdom is a thing of beauty. American Wife contains wisdom to help us on our personal journey through life. Hence it is not possible to overstate its value!
