I enjoyed this Christian novel with its overall theme of doing for others. Left with a newborn after the death of his mother, Ella next seeks a wet nurse. She leaves behind a respectable, but not a desirable job, finds herself labeled as a harlot, an opportunist, and a deceiver, but stays focused on what was best for the infant. Part of the Christian theme was her learning who she was to God. The story is well-written, has suspense elements that kept me guessing, gave an indication of what Southerners faced during Reconstruction and had a satisfying ending.

In His Eyes captivated me from beginning to end! The Civil War era is one of my favorites, so I relished the time period of this novel. Written with imagery and emotion, the historical events woven through the narrative bring Ella’s story to life. Brimming with drama and intrigue, I loved this wonderfully told romance and am eager to read more from Stephenia H. McGee!

Another great book by Stephenia H. McGee! If you like books about the ravages of the Civil War, you'll really enjoy this book. It's definitely a different take on the way some people survived. The characters are relate-able and easy to love. The ending is a rare surprise. I really think you will enjoy reading this book. I know I did.

There was "nothing" that I didn't like about this book. I was hooked from the beginning Ms. McGee has a way of wrapping the characters around your heart. I adored the Biblical references as it added so much to the story and gave me something to think about after I had finished reading the book. I am blessed to have stumbled upon this little jewel. It will definitely be something I pickup in a year or so.

Really like this story. It was the characters, they really came alive. A new to me author, glad I gave it a go. The dreams weren't my favorite way to bring in the inspirational thread, but that's just my personal preference

Great book, a beautiful romance. I was captivated by Ella from the start. I fell in love with her and was said to say goodbye at the end. You know it's a good read when you really miss the character's of the book you're reading.
