Fox in Socks (Beginner Books)
Fox in Socks (Beginner Books)

Review:Hard pages, hard cover, small size pages, and of course the colors and whimsy that we all remember from Dr. Seuss. The book is approximately 5" x 6" (no ruler close by), so beginning readers will have a good time reading it without having to hold a heavy book. I let my grandsons hold the book while I read it to them, and when they're ready to read it, I'll be thrilled to just sit and listen. Read more

A Karen Katz Lift-the-Flap Book (Karen Katz Lift-the-Flap Books)
A Karen Katz Lift-the-Flap Book (Karen Katz Lift-the-Flap Books)

Review:Good book for under 4 dollars. My son at 6 months thought it was great and wanted to read it a second time. He liked the large high contrast letters, flaps, and mommy saying noises. Mommy did not let him touch the flaps though because they could cause paper cuts esp with his current dexterity.

At 8 months old, my son still loves this book. Its in his top 5! Read more

Review:One of our all-time favorites around here. While it's easily memorized, the illustrations and the rhythm keep us coming back time and time again. Even I will stare at the pictures, finding new nuances to enjoy each time we read it. We have read this one since my oldest, now 5, was a small baby, and we still enjoy it. It will always be read at my house. Read more

Big Red Barn
Big Red Barn

Review:While it's no "Goodnight Moon," there is something still entrancing about the prose in "The Big Red Barn." Some of the wording is awkward, but the story is nice (life in the barn from morning to night, cute animals!), and the board version is perfectly sized for small hands. Illustrations are lovely and the length is perfect for our 14 month toddler. Read more

Chicka Chicka ABC (Chicka Chicka Book, A)
Chicka Chicka ABC (Chicka Chicka Book, A)

Review:I was disappointed in the size of the book and the quality of the book. I had purchased this book for my older Grandkids and it was in a larger book and better quality. That is what I thought I was getting. Like the book I ordered for Goodnight Moon. Read more

LMNO Peas (The Peas Series)
LMNO Peas (The Peas Series)

Review:The book was less than average shape (advertised as average) with multiple torn pages and one page was torn in half, mended with tape. It was VERY used. I wasn't very happy with the condition of the book. We love this book, though! Read more

Chicka Chicka 1, 2, 3 (Chicka Chicka Book, A)
Chicka Chicka 1, 2, 3 (Chicka Chicka Book, A)

Review:Chicka Chicka 1,2,3 is a good counting book, not quite as catchy as the alphabet version. I'd buy this book simply for the color-coded 1-100 section on the inside back cover. I find that part more effective than the book itself. My two kids (4 & 5) both learned to count to 100 with it. They didn't quite catch on to the book portion because it just counts by 10's, but they did still like it. Actually seeing the numbers all written out and separated by color made it click. The first thin... Read more

The Crayon Box that Talked
The Crayon Box that Talked

Review:Nice little book about a box of crayons who learn that being different is ok but that they can still work together to complete the picture. This would be great for k-2 classes about working together and being different but still being part of the class. Read more

Review:My parents have been neighbors and close friends of Peter Spier for well over 30 years. Peter has even included our family in a couple of his stories. His gentle approach and kindness are reflected in his drawings and his writing. My children grew up on his books and now my grandchildren will soon be exposed to his wonderful story telling.
