Review:We own quite a few of the national geographic readers and we love them all. They are appropriately laid out for young readers, my daughter loves the riddles/jokes and she loves learning interesting facts about the animals and sharing them with the family. I am very pleased with this purchase and will continue to buy others in the series. Read more
Review:I bought this for a first grader going into second grade. It was easy reading with lots of pictures. It is paperback so easy take along in the car. An added bonus: He may learn something beyond video games. Read more
Review:The pictures are appropriately detailed and the information is engaging. I do wish it had some question and answer blanks and maybe some activities other than just coloring, but I did get what was advertised at a good price. Read more
Review:this was a very nice book with awesome pictures. i did sent it back however because it was a little too easy for my 1st grader who reads at a 3rd-4th grade level. it would have been great for her a 1-2 years ago. it's probably perfect for a kindergartner or pre-schooler who reads with a little help, or a 1st grade who reads at an average level. overall it's exactly what you'd expect from national geographic, which is nothing less than excellent. Review:Agree with an earlier reviewer about the age range for this book. I bought it for my 7 yo nephew (I had bought the day the crayons quit/came home books for him earlier and he loves those two books) but this one was very basic. Great for a two year old, but I think the story is a bit too simple for older kids. Beautifully illustrated as all Oliver Jeffers books are, but this one was boring... Read more
Review:Having previously purchased "I Want My Hat Back", I purchased this for my daughter for Christmas. This book is a more traditional fairy tale then "I Want My Hat Back". The story is a sweet one, with a nice message about generosity. The illustrations are wonderfully done, the yarn is very striking against the background. Read more
Review:I purchased this book for my grandchildren (8 & 6), but I really wanted to keep it for myself. It is the age-old story, but with no narrative. I told them the story several times and then they tell it back to me using their own words and imagination. But the big appeal of this book is the absolutely stunning artwork. Jerry Pinkney is to be congratulated. Read more
Review:Bought these for our 11-year-old son for Christmas (yes, he wanted periodic table stuff for Christmas). These cards are stunning and very well done. Our son is memorizing these and teaching them to his 9-year-old brother too. Great buy. Read more
Review:I purchased this book about two months ago when my son was 8 months old and since then it has become our favorite book for bedtime. The pictures are beautiful...the story is soothing...and it almost always induces a yawn in my son when I begin reading it to him. This is one our favorites! Read more
Review:This is not JUST an ordinary coloring book for the kiddies. I homeschool and our forensic science program suggested an overview of the human body before beginning this study. I had no idea at the wealth of information this "coloring book" contained. It is accurate and detailed with the pronunciation of hard terms in parenthesis.
Included are subjects such as holes in your head, the roof of your mouth, soft spots, the blink of an eye, shrugging your shoulders, disease fighters, pulse, eas... Read more
