Stay away. This is not affiliated with the bestselling Whole30 in any way. Clearly yet another plagaristic cookbook title that plays on bestselling cookbooks and acts like they are affiliated, which they are not.

I quote from this books preface "we designed this cookbook to support those who are on the It Starts With Food Whole 30 Program". This is a complete lie. These recipes are not Whole 30 compliant. The problem that us ISWF people have is the fact that there are people who have not read ISWF who may purchase this cookbook and think that they are following the real deal program. Also, us ISWF people do not use "diet" to describe ISWF or the Whole 30. It is a lifestyle or lifestyle change. Over the years the word diet has begun to mean something other than what one eats. Diet is now synonymous with a quick fix, something you go on briefly for a quick fix which is completely the opposite of what ISWF teaches. This book is not affiliated with Dallas or Melissa Hartwig or their Whole 9/Whole 30/ISWF. I suggest readers thinking of purchasing this cookbook head over to the Whole 9's website to take a look at the real Whole 30 program, Dallas and Melissa are extremely generous in the amount of FREE information they offer on their website. It Starts with Food: Discover the Whole30 and Change Your Life in Unexpected Ways

This book is a fraud perpetrated on the Whole9/Whole30 community and every other unwitting person who thinks they're getting something directly from Whole9. It'll probably get settled out in court in terms of the copyright issues but meanwhile, trash it. Can't believe the "authors" didn't even read the real ISWF close enough to figure out dairy's off limits in W30. The authors did the same hack job to Robert Lustig's book "Fat Chance". Both these diet approaches add up to more than just a collection of recipes and these so-called cookbook authors not only get those wrong, but the philosophy behind them.

You can follow this cookbook ONLY IF YOU ARE *NOT* DOING A WHOLE 30 or ONLY IF YOU WANT A COOKBOOK WHERE YOU CANNOT USE THE RECIPES OR HAVE TO MODIFY THEM YOURSELF. The Whole30 allows ZERO dairy, zero grains, and zero "paleofying" SAD dishes such as pancakes. Similarly, while the Whole30 doesn't ban canola oil outright, Dallas and Melissa Hartwig would never recommend using it at home, as at least one recipe does. Don't waste your money!!

Please know that this book will not help you with a Whole30 program. The program WILL help you, but this book uses ingredients that are not part of a Whole30 and it uses other ingredients to make paleo foods that are also not part of changing your relationship with food.

The official website for the Whole30 has tons of resources - for FREE. I highly recommend the site and the actual book It Starts With Food.

This "book" is self-published (See CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform) and appears to be someone ("New Health CookBooks") trying to make a fast buck off the success of the Hartwig's Whole30 program. That, in an of itself, is nothing new.

But, as others have pointed out, this book is in no way compliant with the Whole30. Within the first few recipes I see non-compliant foods like milk, cheese, and canola oil, not to mention SWYPO foods like hotcakes. Get real. These folks DID NOT do their homework. Interesting that they use only the name "New Health CookBooks" and do not make readily available the name of an actual person.

DO NOT buy this book if you are hoping for recipes that you can use and be compliant with the Whole30. This is the downside of the store Digital Services, Inc. Apparently just about anybody can throw something together, call it a book, and sell it to the unsuspecting.

FAIL.

From above description:
"It Starts With Food by Dallas and Melissa Hartwig was named one of the top 50 health books by the Huffington Post in September 2012, and for a good reason; this book is responsible for changing the lives of it's readers. If you have not read it yet, we highly recommend that you do.
We designed this cookbook to support those who are on the "It Starts With Food Whole 30" program"

You should probably READ the book that you are trying to "support" before creating a cookbook that goes against everything it stands for. Just saying.

If I could leave no stars, I certainly would. These recipes have dishes and ingredients that are in NO WAY part of the Whole30 program or the Whole9 company. Please do not purchase this cookbook thinking you will find recipes that are compliant with the Whole30 program because they are not. Someone has clearly tried to unfairly profit off of the popularity of the original "It Starts with Food" book (which is an awesome book, by the way) by stating that this book is for those following the program. It is not and this is very disappointing to see. Don't waste your money!

Obviously, this is not a book written or endorsed by the authors of It Starts With Food. I only need to take a peek inside the cover to see that I will not be buying this. Clearly, the authors of this book failed to actually read It Starts With Food or they would not have included Hot cakes (SWYPO), along with recipes including milk and cheese, none of which are Whole 30 compliant.

if you want actual recipes that are Whole 30 compliant, just go ahead and buy It Starts With Food.

I have been struggling with my post menopausal wt for a very long time. Once I set my mind to this way of eating I have FINALLY began to lose the belly fat! No kidding! Right from the belly area!! I hope to always keep with this eating plan even after I lose the wt that I need to! It feels so much better mentally and physically when your clothes fit nicer.

this book is a BAIT AND SWITCH!!! WARNING!!! The cover of this book is what I ordered and desired. The inside of the book is another story all together and it is called MY VIRGIN DIET COOKBOOK, and absolutely NOT compatable to my new eating plan.....Obviously a mistake at the publishing house which bound both books. I WANT the cookbook I ordered but have no way of knowing how to go about getting the inside of the book to match the cover on the outside. Don't really know what to do about this challenge. suggestions welcome

NOT Whole30!! Save your money!! Do your research!! This book has nothing to do with Dallas and Melissa Hartwig's terrific book It Starts with Food: Discover the Whole30 and Change Your Life in Unexpected Ways I totally encourage you to read it-so much great information, research, and recipes that DO comply with the Whole 30 guidelines. If you need recipes to support your Whole30/Whole9 adventure, "Well Fed: Paleo Recipes for People Who Love to Eat" by Melissa Joulwan is wonderful! Save your money for the real deal...this isn't it!!

This book has NOTHING to do with the Whole30 Program, the NY Times Bestseller "It Starts With Food" or Melissa and Dallas Hartwig. Do not buy, do not follow the recipes. They are piggybacking off someone else's wonderful work and community.

sharon kaufman
This book contains recipes that are not Whole30 approved. Pancakes and cheese? NOT Whole30. This book has nothing to do with the work of Dallas and Melissa Hartwig, so don't be fooled. Don't buy this book!

Hmm... this title is sneaky. And probably copyright infringement. "It Starts with Food" is a bestseller by Dallas and Melissa Hartwig of Whole9. And these recipes are neither sanctioned by the Hartwigs nor do they adhere to the Whole9/Whole30 guidelines, which is not only illegal, but potentially harmful to people who are trying to heal themselves with food. The publishers of this knock off better get a good lawyer.

Or be fooled into thinking that it in anyway resembles or supports your Whole30 program. The recipes contain non-compliant ingredients and the authors of It Starts With Food, Dallas and Melissa Hartwig, were not a part of writing or publishing this cookbook. It was clearly published to take advantage of the success of their program. Read the real It Starts With Food and use the resources from their website, www.whole9life.com.

"Some of the recipes contain a note indicating you must be tolerant of dairy, eggs, or gluten-free grains."

Dairy is not allowed on Whole30. This book is not compliant for the Whole30 program. It does not jibe with It Starts with Food as written by the Hartwigs.

rachel segall
This book is NOT affiliated with the real book or the fabulous creators of It Starts With Food. This book will NOT change your life or your relationship with food. The recipes that I could preview all had food that was not compliant... mostly dairy and a recipe for pancakes that are not whole30 compliant as they have not nutritional value.

Dallas and Melissa Hartwig's book, "It Starts With Food" It Starts with Food: Discover the Whole30 and Change Your Life in Unexpected Ways is sheer genius, brilliant and life changing. However, the author of the book listed here has clearly plagiarized their good name, and he's not even in the same camp!!

Whoever wrote this book clearly is out to hurt people while making a buck for himself. Run away!!!

This is not whole 30 compliant. If you are interested in the Whole 30 or It Starts with Food, please follow that book or the Whole 30 website actually monitored and endorsed by the authors unlike this book. some of the recipes sound good if you're adopting a paleo or paleo modified lifestyle and are interested in recreating non paleo favorites. Please PLEASE do not buy this book without considering that though. These are not Whole 30 recipes.

Clearly this cookbook does not follow the guidelines of the Whole30 which are clearly spelled out in the book "It Starts with Food" by Dallas and Melissa Hartwig and on the Whole9Life.com website. What a misrepresentation of the program! Intellectual property deserves to be respected (plus, it's the LAW).

Obviously you don't need another review of how fraudulent this book is. 80+ other people telling you so is quite enough. But just to show solidarity for a great book, a truly thoughtful nutrition program and two great authors, I'm adding my name to the list of people who want to assure you this is not something to spend a cent on. Whoever wrote this doesn't have your best interest at heart...for starters, HELLO you can't have pancakes on the Whole 9 30. And if you think having Paleo compliant pancakes is okay, then you didn't read the real It Starts With Food and you know nothing about the amazing program that is the Whole 9 30. It's not just about bread people.

This book misrepresents the Whole30 program and its approved ingredients. It is a clear cut example of copyright infringement and theft of someone else's research. I expect it to be pulled by the store very soon!!!
★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
tim riley
This book is NOTHING LIKE a whole 30 compliant diet! The recipes use cheeses, canola oil (seriously!?), and other ingredients NOT included in a whole 30 or a paleo lifestyle. I also saw in the reviews that you don't even have the permission of the authors of "It Starts With Food" to use their name! Will not purchase, and will steer others away.

Not only did these people not read IT STARTS WITH FOOD by the real Whole9 founders, it seems they haven't even visited the website. It is explicitly stated that dairy, sweeteners, and "paleo-fied" versions of junk food (i.e. pancakes) are not allowed during Whole30...all which appear in the first pages of this trash.

levi melton
This book has nothing to do with the NYT Bestseller "It Starts With Food" by Dallas and Melissa Hartwig.
It is a blatant and brazen rip off of the name "It Starts with Food" . I sincerely hope that the authors of ISWF will pursue immediate and swift legal action.
★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
kamran motamedi
The Whole 30 people work very hard to help people improve their health and life! This book has STOLEN their name and given HORRIBLE recipes that are in no way good for you, your life or, most importantly even CLOSE TO Whole 30 compliant.
★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
morten k
This book has absolutely no affiliation with "It Starts With Food". In fact, I question whether the writers of these recipes even bothered to read Dallas and Melissa Hartwig's ISWF. Not only are these recipes not Whole30 friendly, but they also promote the poor eating habits that Whole30 peeps are trying to detach themselves from.
★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
lindsay brown
There is nothing worse than those who try to ride on the coat tails of others. This book is not endorsed or supported by the Hartwigs. And it's obvious that the person who wrote this doesn't even understand the Whole30. Don't be duped. Don't waste your money. This is a scam.
★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
candace
The writers of this book have CLEARLY never read It Starts With Food... the REAL Whole30 book! The recipes listed in this book are non-compliant with the Whole30 diet plan and lifestyle. Do not waste your money on this book. Rather, save yourself some pain and heartache and buy the REAL It Starts With Food book and learn how to make your own food healthy and tasty and Whole30 compliant!
★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
elliot panek
The people who marketed this book are trying to make money by ripping off the name of a truly excellent work by Melissa and Dallas Hartwig. If you are serious about improving your health, buy the real deal and don't waste your money on this one. This book is in no way representative of the advice given in It Starts With Food.

This book h as ZERO affiliation with the authors of It Starts With Food"!

I can't believe the store would let them sell it - hoping its shut down soon! Don't support authors trying to steal a concept from the creators -- and the recipes aren't even clean!
★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
erez
This book is not affiliated with the Whole30 program, the book It Starts with Food or with the program creators. There are recipes with ingredients that are not included in the whole30. Disappointing book.
★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
sara liebert
This fraudulent book deserves 0 stars, not even 1! How dare the author(s) represent themselves as having any association with the actual ISWF authors, and to top it off, the recipes don't even fit in with the ISWF plan?! If you want a cookbook that does contain approved and appropriate recipes, buy Well Fed.
★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
michael menary
This book is in no way affiliated with the Hartwigs or It Starts With Food, and the recipes in it are NOT in accordance with the Whole30. If you are looking for Whole30 recipes, you will not find them here. So disappointed that someone would try to piggyback on the Hartwig's hard work with such blatant copyright and trademark infringement!

The recipes in this book are most definitely NOT Whole30 compliant! Do NOT buy this recipe book if you are looking for recipes to use during your Whole30! Instead visit the Whole9 website at http://whole9life.com/
