The recipies all have a very long ingrediant list and can be pretty complicated. I work alot and was hopping for somthing to just tell me what to eat while pregnet and a halfway simple way to do it. I only made the muffin recipies, they were good and was happy with how healthy they were but took alot of time and don't keep very well.

This book is great. It provides a lot of information on why eating healthy during pregnancy is so important, while providing lists of healthy foods. The second half is filled with recipes and ideas to create a more healthy diet for you and your family.

This book has good information that you can use during your pregnancy, but you can find all the exact same information online without having to buy the book. It truly is just common sense and good health guidelines. If you're sick during your pregnancy, all this info goes out the window anyway. It's nice to want to follow the guidelines, but sometimes if all you can stomach for a week is Lucky Charms and Gushers, then that's what you'll eat. Just be aware that if you are nauseous during your pregnancy, generally reading about food will make you nauseous as well. If you are clueless about what is good for your body, then this would be useful, but if you generally know good nutrition guidelines, this is nothing ground-breaking. I wouldn't buy it again- I'd save my money for something else.

The recipes in this book are mostly useless. Some of them call for replacing cream at a certain stage in the method with yoghurt for a "healthier" option but if you know about cookery then you know this is a bad idea.
I don't think this book was very well researched from a cooking point of view - maybe the nutrition content is sound but the accompanying recipes are not.
Makes for a useless book in effect.

This book is wonderful!! I have been having so much trouble figuring out how and what I should be eating during my pregnancy, and this book not only gave suggestions and eased my worries, but also helped me cope with things like morning sickness and weight gain. I love it!!!

I thought this had a lot of good information, but a lot of it was pretty obvious if you've read any nutritional book. It tells you about whole grains, eating a variety of colors of fruits and vegetables, etc. The pregnancy-specific information was great, but there wasn't as much of that as I thought there would be.

If you know anything about proper nutrition and excercise, this book will be a waste of money. The recipes seemed exciting, but proved to be disappointing. The measurements and yields were not accurate on the recipes I tried. However, if you are clueless about clean, healthy eating this may be the book for you!

I started to read this then became overwhelmed with all the restrictions. I ate sushi, lunchmeat, ice cream, cheese, caffeine, etc as I felt like it and my little baby turned out perfect at full term. If you have no clue how to eat healthy then buy this, otherwise it's just common sense.

Buying 2 days of food using this cookbook cost over $90 in our local grocer. So while the recipes are good, we are using them in extreme moderation as many of the main ingredients are hard to come by and expensive.

I bought this book because I really thought that it would help me stay healthy while I was pregnant. I read the book cover to cover and found a lot of things in it to be well weird. I believe in being healthy especially when you have another person to worry about but I don't have enough time in the day to measure everything I eat and some of the suggests were just weird. Plus a lot of the information from this book you can find in the "What to Expect Book" in the diet section. Overall if you are going to take the time to really make sure you follow a diet, this is the book for you. If you are someone who isn't going to measure or count calories, don't bother buying this book.

Download the free what to expect when expecting app and get this book and you are set for pregnancy info. This gave good recipes and nutrition goals vs weekly "yep baby is bigger" updates that you can get in the app.

I expected this book to talk more about nutrition than "What to expect when you are expecting". But it says the same thing. This book didn't suit my needs at all because it asks a pregnant woman, who can barely remember to turn the oven off when she's finished, to cook gormet meals. I was an excellent cook pre-pregnancy, and these meal plans and suggestions would have been difficult, time-consuming, and costly even then! If anyone CAN indeed cook like a gormet cheif when pregnant and has the dough to spend on it, by all means, this book is for you.

Although this book does give you good information it seemed to be information that I already knew. I didn't read much of the book before I gave up on it. Just didn't seem like a necessary read. There are much better books to get when you are expecting.

I recently learned I was pregnant, and wanted to make sure I was eating right for the baby so bought a few books to do some research. I'm not sure this one will get much use - I may donate it to a local library, in case someone else finds it helpful.

In my opinion, the original "What to Expect When You're Expecting" is preferable to this book, as this doesn't give a lot of new info if you know have a basic knowledge of how to eat healthy anyway. The one big exception is the recipes that are included here, and the detailed breakdown of what different food options are available to meet each specific nutritional recommendation/requirement for pregnancy. Otherwise it's mainly just basic nutritional advice.

The second issue I had with the book is that there is very little information available for vegetarians, or even for those who only eat fish/shellfish. It would have been nice if there had been more vegetarian dishes, or even vegetarian options listed for the meat recipes.
